MP backs biodiesel tax break project

Liberal Democrat MP Andrew George is backing a project to keep tax breaks for companies who produce biodiesel.

Producers transforming cooking oil into biodiesel presently gain from a 20p differential however that is because of end next April.

The St Ives MP, who leads the Lib Dem Environment Team, has been fulfilling with the UK sustainable biodiesel alliance.

Mr "a variety of small businesses in Cornwall currently make cash from used cooking oil".

He included: "In order to be able to get this kind of industry going it does need simply a little bit of lift which is available in the kind of tax foregone."

Biodiesel is a blend of conventional diesel, rapeseed and veggie oils.
